Super Snackin’ Saturday – Chicken Wing Dip
Are you ready for some football? Because this girl certainly is. And, not just football, but everything else that comes along with it. For this family, Sunday is not just about football, but also about obsessively checking fantasy football stats, snacking on some great food and just generally being lazy. A day when not only is drinking beer with lunch acceptable, it’s actually encouraged. It doesn’t matter if it’s a beautiful day or a day smackdab in the middle of a blizzard. I probably won’t even notice what it’s like outside because I’ll be far too busy glued to the couch, flipping between all of the games. Totally devoted to a long day of lounging. I mean, when else do you find the time to laze around for a full day and not feel guilty about it? That’s right, only when football is on.
Oh, and did I mention that along with a day totally devoted to football also comes a day totally devoted to eating great snack food? Especially, when your team is the Buffalo Bills and you find yourself emotionally eating to deal with the pain. In fact, it actually might be one of my favorite parts of the season.
That’s why we’re bringing to you a Super Snackin’ Saturday marathon. One in which you can stop here every Saturday from today until the Super Bowl and find a great, new snack food to make for your football watching party on Sunday! How excited are you about this? I know I am! Not only will we be sharing our good, old standby snack foods, but we will also be sharing some new-to-us favorites. No more scouring the internet to find a great dip or salsa to share -you can just stop right here!
So, start your season opener Sunday on the right note with this Chicken Wing Dip. It hot and spicy, gooey and melty, and full of blue cheese, hot sauce, and chicken. It’s a Big Flavors favorite! I make this chicken wing dip every year for the first Sunday of the season, along with Super Bowl Sunday, and maybe three or four other Sundays in between. We love it that much! And, nothing screams “Let’s Go Buffalo!!!!!!” like some Buffalo chicken sauced up with some blue cheese dressing. It really does taste just like a Buffalo chicken wing, just in a dip form… with way more cheese.
This dip is definitely a crowd pleaser! But, know up front how addicting this stuff is! Once you start, you just can’t stop. Don’t be afraid to double, triple, or even quadruple this recipe. I promise, it will get eaten. I love to serve this dip along side crunchy celery and carrots for dipping, just like the traditional sides to chicken wings. Then you can eat more before feeling full! You know, because celery and carrot dippers are kind of like a health food. And not like a tortilla chip or pretzel, although those also taste great with this dip. Or you could just spoon it right into your mouth and skip the dippers altogether. Whatever works for you!
Chicken Wing Dip
| Serves | 4-6 |
| Prep time | 40 minutes |
| Cook time | 10 minutes |
| Total time | 50 minutes |
| Meal type | Appetizer, Snack, Starter |
Ingredients
- 1 large chicken breast
- 8oz light cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup Frank's Hot Sauce
- 1/2 cup Ken's Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing
- 3/4 cups mozzerella cheese
Optional
- Celery, Carrots, Pretzels, Tortilla Chips
Directions
| 1. | Season chicken with salt and pepper on both sides. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 35 minutes, until juices run clear. Let cool completely. Once cool, use two forks to shred chicken into bite size pieces. |
| 2. | In a large, oven safe bowl, combine cream cheese, blue cheese, hot sauce, and mozzerella cheese. Add shredded chicken and mix well. |
| 3. | Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Let dip heat through for 10 minutes, stirring once after five minutes. Serve along side of pretzels, chips, celery, and carrots. |
Do you see how easy it is to make this dip? Only two dishes to wash – the dish you bake your chicken in and the dish you mix and warm it in. That’s it! Also, please note that while I guess you could techincally substitute the blue cheese dressing for ranch dressing, I can’t in good faith recommend this. That would be sacreligious here in Buffalo, and I would hate for you to accidently jynx my team. The Bills need all the help they can get, so let’s not try to make that situation any worse.
